SUMMARY:Ignite Meet Up for Fellows
DESCRIPTION:In January\, we will organize our first monthly Ignite Meetup for Fellows. In addition to discussing upcoming training and events for 2023\, we will be hosting a conversation with John E. Alexander\, Cornell Alumni AB 74’ MBA 76’\, founding member of Cayuga Venture Fund and Red Bear Angels\, and a successful serial entrepreneur. This will be an opportunity to have a Q&A-style discussion with an emphasis on how to create and manage new ventures. \nAbout John E. Alexander \n \nJOHN E. ALEXANDER (Cornell AB ’74\, MBA ’76) is the founder of The CBORD Group Inc.\, a systems integration firm based in Ithaca\, NY.  He earned an undergraduate degree in physics and an MBA in finance while at Cornell.  Immediately after graduation\, he was vice president in the Money Market Division of Bankers Trust Company (now Deutsche Bank.) in their Eurodollar trading operation. \nAs President and CEO of CBORD\, Mr. Alexander led CBORD through 29 years of growth. The CBORD Group\, founded in 1975\, is the world’s leading provider of campus and cashless card systems\, food and nutrition service management software\, nationwide student discount and off-campus commerce programs\, housing and judicial process management software\, and integrated security solutions. DESCRIPTION:The Center for Technology Licensing at Cornell University (CTL) has historically benefited greatly from working with Cornell’s bright\, passionate\, and creative students whose many contributions have helped CTL translate Cornell’s innovations into products and services for the benefit of society. We are also proud to know those who have worked with us in the past have successfully leveraged their CTL experience into promising and successful careers in\, among other areas\, technology licensing\, patent law\, startups\, and business development. \nTo further enhance this mutually beneficial relationship\, CTL is proud to continue the CTL Practicum for Cornell graduate students. \nEvery other month\, the CTL Practicants participate in a social hour for enrichment\, community\, and fun.

DESCRIPTION:The Center for Technology Licensing (CTL) recently launched the Cornell Innovation & Venture Advisors (CIVA) group. CIVA is a new and exclusive community of industry experts who are provided a first look at emerging technologies and venture opportunities from Cornell innovations. The group\, which advisors may join by invitation only\, aims to connect Cornell inventors from the Ithaca\, Geneva\, Cornell Tech\, and Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) campuses with potential entrepreneurs and corporate partners with the goal of leveraging advisor feedback to best advance technology toward commercialization and venture. \n  \n
