SUMMARY:Technology Innovation Workshop: Intellectual Property
DESCRIPTION:The second installment of the Technology Innovation Workshop series will cover the essentials of intellectual property for startups. Led by Frank DeCosta and Phillip Owh\, the presentation will include IP dos and don’ts\, patent filing\, and tips on how to leverage Cornell’s Center for Technology Licensing (CTL). \nDeCosta is a widely regarded expert in patent litigation and a partner at Finnegan Henderson\, a full-service IP firm where he leads the firm’s litigation section with experience in patent litigation\, software\, and client counseling. Owh serves as the Director of Business Development & Licensing for Life Sciences at CTL\, where he draws on his background in biochemistry to manage a portfolio of inventions that span the life sciences spectrum from agriculture to health. \nThe session will conclude with information about the Commercialization Fellowship\, an opportunity for Cornell Engineering Ph.D. candidates to take a deep dive into the commercialization process and potential real-world applications of university inventions. Applications for this program are open now! \nThis workshop is the second in a new series from the Center for Regional Economic Advancement\, the S.C. Johnson College of Business\, the College of Engineering\, and the Center for Technology Licensing. \nRegister here. \n\n  \nRSVP for future sessions in the series: \n• Investment Basics on Friday\, April 28 at 1 PM
