Enns is a Professor in the Department of Government and the Brooks School of Public Policy\, Robert S. Harrison Director of the Cornell Center for Social Sciences\, and Executive Director of the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research. He is also co-founder and chief data scientist at Verasight. His research and teaching focus on public opinion and political representation\, mass incarceration and the legal system\, and data science. \nEnns has published three books—Hijacking the Agenda: Economic Power and Political Influence\, Incarceration Nation: How the United States Became the Most Punitive Democracy in the World\, and Who Gets Represented?—and dozens of academic articles and op-eds. His research has been funded by the Economic and Social Research Council\, FWD.us\, Koch Foundation\, National Science Foundation\, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation\, and Russell Sage Foundation. In 2017\, he received the Emerging Scholar Award from the Elections\, Public Opinion\, and Voting Behavior section of the American Political Science Association\, presented to the top scholar in the field within ten years of her or his doctorate.

DESCRIPTION:The right to be granted a patent for a given invention lies with the first person to file a fully-supported patent application. However\, rushing to the patent office does not necessarily lead to the best outcomes in patenting. Finding the perfect time to file a patent is a collaborative process between the inventor and CTL\, discovering a time that is not too early or too late.  In this third session of the IP Series\, we will discuss real-life examples of practical considerations in invention disclosure timing\, including enablement\, written description\, and prior art hazards in publishing scientific findings before patenting. SUMMARY:I-Corps Regional Course program (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:The virtual regional course is 4.5 weeks long. It combines self-directed online learning activities\, with six Zoom-based class meetings (1-2 hours long)\, and two 1:1 instructor check ins (15-20 minutes). Teams of 1-3 people can apply. Eight to ten teams are selected per class.
