SUMMARY:OUP Webinar: Ask a VC webinar
DESCRIPTION:Have a burning question on venture capital you need answered? \n  \nJoin the Center for Technology Licensing’s partner\, Osage University Partners (OUP)\, for our second annual ‘Ask a VC’ webinar\, a session where our partner TTOs can ask Managing Partners Marc Singer and Bill Harrington anything and everything as it pertains to venture capital operations\, decision-making\, and the current investing environment. \nSince the purpose of this webinar is to answer your questions on venture capital and startups\, submit your questions early. Query areas could include: \n\nWhat should startups look for in their lead investors?\nWhat are ‘standard’ investment terms these days for startups? Does this vary by Seed vs Series A?\nWhat are the common misconceptions you find that faculty members have about being a company founder?\nWhat does a well-known PI typically receive for founder’s equity?\nHow do SPACs work and what could they mean for university startups?\nWhat do you find are common misconceptions TTOs have about venture capital?\nWhat sources of funding most commonly lead to a startup having a later successful venture capital financing round?\n\nMarc and Bill will also take questions from the audience the day of the webinar\, but sending your questions in advance will put them at the top of the queue. \nThis webinar is free to all of OUP’s academic institution partners (Cornell Faculty and students). \n  \nPanelists: \nBill Harrington\, Managing Partner\, Life Sciences\, OUP \nMarc Singer\, Managing Partner\, Technology\, OUP \n  \nRegistration Link:  https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Zxkj7mUdTu2izYAoPwT5qw \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

SUMMARY:2021 CCMR Symposium: “High Performance Soft Materials: from Bioinspiration to Synthesis and Fabrication”
DESCRIPTION:CCMR Symposium – June 9\, 2021 – Virtual – Free Registration! \n   \nHigh-performance soft materials: from bioinspiration to synthesis and fabrication! \n   \nREGISTRATION IS OPEN! \n   \n2021 Organizing Committee:\nProf. Lawrence Bonassar\, Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering/Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering\, College of Engineering\, Cornell University \n   \nProf. Nikolaos Bouklas\, Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering\, College of Engineering\, Cornell University \n   \nA new generation of engineering applications\, propelled by industry and government-led initiatives\, has created an array of challenges towards enhancing the performance capabilities of soft materials. This effort has focused on a variety of goals\, including the development of novel soft materials that \n\ncan match the natural properties of biological tissues\,\nare responsive to external multi-physical stimuli and\ncan function in structural and load bearing applications.\n\n   \nApplications in tissue engineering\, bioengineering\, soft robotics\, flexible electronics\, energetic materials and structural design\, all pose requirements towards optimizing combinations of material properties\, such as strength\, toughness\, fatigue resistance\, lubricity\, and wear resistance. For example recent advances have led to the development of double network hydrogels\, soft composites\, as well as hydrogels and elastomers with dynamic bonds which all are designed towards improved material properties. Bioinspiration and multiscale understanding of the underlying mechanisms that govern the material behavior prove to be extremely important for informing the design and generation of soft materials\, devices\, and implants. At the same time\, advancements in fabrication techniques such as 3D printing are expanding the application space of soft materials. The acceleration of soft material design needs to be supported by the concurrent evolution of fabrication and characterization techniques so that existing shortcomings of soft materials are overcome. \n   \nThe goal of this symposium is to bring together experts in the characterization\, design\, fabrication\, and application of high performance soft material to discuss recent developments in the field and priorities for interdisciplinary approaches to moving the field forward. \n   \nRegister:\nhttps://www.ccmr.cornell.edu/industry/ccmr-symposium/registration/ccmr-symposium-registration-form/
