SUMMARY:The OUP Exchange: Licensing Trends for Climate Tech Startups
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the Virtual Exchange is to share best practices across a broad network and make connections in the tech transfer world. In this Exchange\, we’ll share best practices for licensing to climate tech startups\, including the following questions: \n\nGiven the ever-evolving climate tech landscape these past few years\, how have your licensing practices to these startups changed\, if at all? What are your pain points working with these startups? What are some best practices your office has implemented?\nHave royalty percentage amounts or structures changed recently in your climate tech startup licenses? What are some best practices you can share regarding structuring compensation for Licensed Product sales in climate tech licenses?\nAre you utilizing milestone payments as a different lever in your climate tech startup licenses? If so\, have these been to offset some or all earned royalty payments?\nHave these startups requested any interesting non-financial terms?\n\nBring your pain points and lessons learned pertaining to climate tech startup licensing. We’ll start out with a brief panel discussion addressing some of these questions\, followed by breakout rooms to talk through additional points\, and then a brief summary of the breakout discussions back in the main room. \nEach breakout room will have a moderator and scribe. The moderators will keep the discussions moving in the breakout rooms\, and the scribes will be responsible for summarizing the key findings of their breakout session and presenting them to the larger group. If you would like to volunteer for one of these positions\, please designate that on your registration form or email Jaimie Testai at jtestai@oup.vc. You are also welcome to send in advance to Jaimie any additional questions you would like to see discussed during the Exchange. \nCome discuss\, network\, and learn together on March 5th or 6th. We will run two sessions since we know not everyone can always make a specific date and time. \nWhile most of our programs are open to a broad swath of audiences\, the purpose of the Exchange is to share best practices in the academic tech transfer field and therefore is only open to individuals employed by our partner institutions’ Technology Commercialization Offices. \nRegistration

SUMMARY:AI Series Part 1 | AI in University Commercialization Practices
DESCRIPTION:Topic: AI Series\, Part 1 | AI in University Commercialization Practices \nWhen: Thursday\, April 18\, 2024 | 12:00pm ET \nRegistration:**  **Click Here \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. \n————————————————— \nWebinar Description: \nAs the world of AI continues to grow\, we will dive into a couple of programs that have sprouted in the Technology Transfer space to understand how AI can be used to help the process of university commercialization functions. Marc Sedam of NYU and James Zanewicz of Tulane University will join us to discuss how their institutions have adopted the use of AI. \n\nNew York University has released the TOV-AI™ prompts to the university tech transfer community with the goal of widespread adoption of AI use cases. These prompts are the result of a concerted effort to implement AI in fundamentally all back-office processes to improve efficiency and allow all TTOs to scale using technology and not headcount. The presentation will give a brief overview of the strategy behind the prompts\, use cases including time and cost savings\, and where TTOs can find additional revenue through improved license compliance.\nTulane Medicine was one of the first Academic Medical Centers to join The Alliance for AI In Healthcare\, recognizing the importance AI was going to play in the field. In addition to covering the AAIH and Tulane’s engagement with AI from an Industry perspective\, the presentation will cover ways to employ AI in Business Development\, Operational and Marketing/Communications initiatives.\n\nThis webinar is open to all of OUP’s academic institution partners.
