SUMMARY:CTL Practicum 2023 in-person info session
DESCRIPTION:The Center for Technology Licensing at Cornell University (CTL) has historically significantly benefited from working with Cornell’s bright\, passionate\, and creative students\, whose many contributions have helped protect and market Cornell’s innovations for potential licensing to new ventures or existing companies. We are also proud to know those who have worked with us in the past have successfully leveraged their CTL experience into promising and successful careers in\, among other areas\, technology licensing\, IP law\, consulting\, business development\, etc. \nTo further enhance this mutually beneficial relationship\, CTL is proud to continue the CTL Practicum Program for Cornell graduate students (STEM and MBA) and postdoctoral researchers at Ithaca\, Cornell AgriTech\, and Cornell Tech campuses. We are seeking candidates available to work with us for at least 9 months (academic year)\, at a maximum of 10 hours per week. The Practicants will be paid at an hourly rate. \nJoin us on August 24 at noon at the Physical Science Building (PSB)\, third floor\, room 301\, for an in-person info session and have pizza lunch on us while learning about the program. Register here. \nDetailed information about the program and the application process can be found on CTL’s website here.

During that period\, OTL licensed out hundreds of new technologies\, bringing in $1.8 billion\, most of which went back to support research and education at Stanford.  Because Stanford’s OTL licensed many start-ups\, including Google\, Tableau\, iRhythm\, she understands the challenges of building a successful company through a robust intellectual property portfolio. \nKathy served as President of the Association of University Technology Managers.   She also spearheaded the development and implementation of nine principles related to university technology licensing. The principles are set forth in document entitled “In the Public Interest: Nine Points to Consider in Licensing University Technology.” More than 120 institutions have adopted the principles since they were published in 2007. \n  \nMatthew J. Meyer\, Chief Client Corporate Development Advisor in the life sciences\, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati \nBased in San Francisco\, Matthew leads the firm’s life science business advisory practice—a newly formed\, innovative resource aimed at providing start-up and emerging life sciences companies with business insights\, capabilities\, and strategies to help them thrive and address some of their most challenging issues. \nMatthew is an experienced executive and corporate attorney who has held diverse roles of increasing responsibility across a wide range of private and public biopharma\, medtech\, and precision medicine companies from start-ups to Fortune 50 in the U.S. and Europe\, including Pfizer\, Novartis\, and CareDx.
