Maxim Shabrov joined the Center for Technology Licensing in October 2021 as the Business Development & Licensing Associate for the Physical Sciences team. In this role, Maxim supports the team’s technology commercialization efforts across physical sciences and engineering domains.
Before joining CTL, Maxim independently advised SBIR/STTR-funded startups on business and financial aspects of technology development, scaling, and commercialization and institutional clients on emerging technology investment opportunities. Prior to that, he was recruited by Battelle to help launch a $100m global VC fund with a mandate to invest in early and growth stage nanotechnology businesses. After closing the fund, Maxim served as the director of investments and general manager supporting the fund’s investment operations. Prior to joining Battelle, he served as director of finance at a business incubator where he led several startup financing programs. Maxim received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Brown University and did his post-doctoral research at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
