CTL@WCM Special Panel on Health Equity

October 11, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

WCM Special Panel banner

On the occasion of the diversity month, Weill Cornell Medicine Enterprise Innovation’s CTL@WCM is addressing disparities in health and health care affecting underrepresented groups.

Gender, ethnoracial background, income, housing, and geographic location, etc. are just some of factors that influence health and well-being. People of color and other marginalized groups are the most impacted by healthcare inequity, and they experience higher rates of illness. Racial disparities, particularly, is estimated to cost $93 billion in excess medical care.

In a special panel, experts from academia, industry, government, and investment will provide insights on the state of healthcare, will discuss solutions to improve the conditions that drive health outcomes (equitable access to care, diversification of clinical trials, etc.), and will describe existing programs that can sustainably address health disparities, with a commercialization and investment lens.

Panelists

• Pierre R. Theodore, MD, Vice President, Global Public Health, J&J
• Rachel Rubin ‘07, Vice President, Investments and Programs, Roivant Social Ventures
• J’Vanay Santos-Fabian, MBA candidate, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, My LÚA
